VHP to move SC against govt on Muslim reservation issue
Ludhiana, Jan 2 (PTI) The VHP today said it will move the Supreme Court against the UPA government’s decision to grant 4.5 per cent reservation to Muslims under OBC quota. “The 4.5 per cent reservation to Muslims within the 27 per cent OBC quota is a politically motivated move ahead of elections in five states. We will challenge this in the Supreme Court,” VHP Organising General Secretary Dinesh Chandra said here. “Religion-based reservation is against the Constitution,” he told reporters, adding that VHP is also planning to start a mass awareness campaign against the government’s move. “We have also lodged a strong protest with the Election Commission as the move came just three days ahead of the poll dates announcement,” he said.
