PRESS STATEMENT :
COMMUNAL VIOLENCE BILL 2011 MURDEROUS FOR THE COUNTRY- Ashok Singhal, Int’L President, VHP
New Delhi, Dec. 01, 2011 – The Int’L President of Vishva Hindu Parishad Sri Ashok Singhal told the media that a few organizations and some people entrenched in the central government were exerting acute pulls and pressures to get the Communal Violence Bill 2011 passed in the Parliament as a law at the earliest. “Doing such a thing can prove murderous for the country because the central intent of this Bill is against the very grain of the national society and the constitution of the country”, said Sri Singhal.
This statement comes from Sri Singhal in the wake of that conference of the Jamiat-e-Ulema Hind in which the Jamiat leader Arshad Madani urged the central government to pass the Communal Violence Bill 2011 at the earliest and in the same breath also suggested that in the event of its not being able to be passed in the Parliament, it may be implemented by an ordinance as early as possible. It is worth noting that in the said conference were also present Union Minister Sri Ghulam Navi Azad, Samajwadi Party UP President and M.P. Sri Akhilesh Yadav and M.P. Mr. Owaisi.
Sri Singhal told me that he got information about the Jamait conference through the media. He also strongly condemned that statement of the Union Minister Mr. Azad in which he said that the Government was determined to pass the Bill and after the Bill was passed there would be an enhancement of peace in the country. Sri Singhal said that such organizations and people who were supporting such a law wanted to spoil the atmosphere of the country. Questioning the motive of the central government he said that in order to pander to the appeasement policy it was conspiring to disintegrate the country.
Sri Singhal informed that the leading Sants of the country is going to hold a summit meeting in Delhi on December 11-12, 2011 to undertake a brain-storming session on this Bill and strongly articulate the feelings of the national society against this conspiratorial Bill.
