Kanchi Peetham chief calls for unity

KOCHI: Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham Mutt chief Jayendra Saraswati Swami has called for unity among the various sects of the Hindu religion. Speaking at a reception accorded to him by the Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Kochi on Thursday, Jayendra Saraswati said that the Hindus here were a divided lot owing to the presence of separate organizations representing them.
He said Sree Narayana Guru had stood for Hindu unity. So, the leaders of the various communities should follow his path to achieve unity, he said. Jayendra Saraswati also offered all support to the efforts of the VHP to unite all sects of the Hindu religion.
Former ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair was felicitated on the occasion. Madhavan Nair said it would greatly help scientists if they read Hindu religious books as those books contained many scientific phenomena.
Singhal will inaugurate the VHP delegates’ meet to be held at Pavakkulam Mahadeva Temple auditorium on Friday. Around 350 delegates from across the country will take part in the event. Praveen Thogadia and Vedantha will also speak at the meeting.
