MANGALORE: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have appealed to President Pratibha Patil to accord presidential consent to the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Bill 2010.
An eight-member delegation from the DK unit of VHP and Dal met her on Thursday and urged her to accord presidential consent for the Bill, which was passed by both Houses of the state.
VHP president M B Puranik told her that any further delay in giving consent to the Bill will cause suffering to tens of thousands of cattle every day, and defeat the very purpose of the Bill which seeks to prevent slaughter of cattle.
Medical education minister V S Acharya, Vajradehi Mutt seer Rajashekarananda, state convener of Gau Raksha Vinay L Shetty, deputy general secretary of VHP Krishnamurthy, Dal members Thulajaram, Manju Neereshwallya, Sharan Pumpwell and Gopal Kuthar were part of the delegation.
